Support Accident Victims

Free Prosthetics & Eye Surgeries

Fund raiser by Vishaal Jagannadhan

Many children and adults in impoverished regions of India have lost legs in accidents and cannot afford replacements to help them carry out their day to day activities. The Rural Hope Foundation works closely with Sudheekshan Foundation, which helps those affected obtain prosthetic replacements. With prosthetic legs, children can go to school and perform all activities on their own. Adults can carry out their work and earn income to support their families.

The Rural Hope Foundation also works closely with the Sankara Eye Foundation to organize eye camps for the poor who need cataract removal surgeries in South India. India has the highest percentage of eye problems and blindness in the world, and while over 80% of these issues can be easily cured, the majority of those in these rural areas cannot afford even basic eye care.

Vishaal My name is Vishaal Jagannadhan and I am a rising high school senior in California. I have been interested in medicine, and when I visited India to volunteer and intern at hospitals in South India, I saw the extent to which many could not afford to meet regular health needs, and decided to do something about it. Through the Rural Hope Foundation, I am now raising funds to help those needing prosthetic legs and eye surgeries, with the near-term goal of providing prosthetics for at least three people and a hundred cataract eye surgeries.
